Happy to see Nike shoes being worn in practice.

Even if ND photoshops out the swoosh. Lol
I may be wrong but I don’t recall Nike shoes in practice before. Obviously there won’t be the option in games. My kids are sneaker heads and bring it up all the time-look at what so and so is wearing. I want those next. Etc.

Citron had conductors on in one post. Link attached.

Prosper had Kobe’s and then KD 17s when she was at her brother’s clinic a while back if memory is correct.

Not a fan of UA for basketball. Who knows if it’s related to the recent foot injuries but I figure it is as good a time as any for a anti UA shoe post

Tyler James reporting Maddy recently had foot surgery.

So 90 days of rehab takes her to Dec 1

Just speculation now as we do not know what
by bohratom  (2024-09-16 19:24:54)     cannot delete  |  Edit  |  Return to Board  |  Ignore Poster   |   Highlight Poster  |   Reply to Post

foot surgery was performed including typical time to recover. She also mentioned being on the sideline for the beginning of the year which might have meant "Season" but either way Let's Go Irish.

She said "when I return to the court this season"

Don't make up out for the year speculation when she directly addressed.

Joe she wrote that and "While I'll be on the sideline for
by bohratom  (2024-09-17 10:06:21)     cannot delete  |  Edit  |  Return to Board  |  Ignore Poster   |   Highlight Poster  |   Reply to Post

the beginning of the Year" and I never said "out for the Year".

The phrase you used certainly implies it

"which might have meant "Season""

What did you mean by that phrase? We're probably just stuck in semantics.

Ram thought she might be back by Dec 1, I just pointed out
by bohratom  (2024-09-17 13:09:14)     cannot delete  |  Edit  |  Return to Board  |  Ignore Poster   |   Highlight Poster  |   Reply to Post

she also stated "Be on the sideline for the beginning of the Year" which some might imply as 2025 or as I said she might have meant "Season" which starts Nov 2024, so yes it's just semantics.

No, just hoping

And establishing an approximate timeline that takes us to Dec 1 at approximately 90 days

Without knowing any more I can only hope (& be glad) 90 days is long enough

A lot of healing can be accomplished by a 22 y/o in 3 months

I would be satisfied with a return by the start of ACC play

She'll miss some big time non-conference matchups but that's what depth is for. There will be a bunch of lopsided games in the months of November and December as well. A return around the New Year would give the team a few months to really gel before the post season.

Ditto on Returning During ACC Play

Save for some of the hood ornament games (UConn, Texas, USC), that's where the pedal hits the metal.

And I still think Kylie will surprise us & suit up this yr *

Slow and steady wins the race…

Maddy had posted an IG last week showing crutches leaning

against a table so I knew something was up but did not want to post anything as they might have been crutches from someone else. The good news is she feels confident she will be back later this season or she would not have written that. The bad news of course is the Irish Curse once again hits our team but at least this season we have 2 all Conference players who will take over her #4. Lets keep the fingers crossed and Go Irish.

Thank goodness for Karlen and King. *

The more I think about the way this roster is constructed,

the more I believe a goal was injury redundancy. Practically every position/type of player has another similar, high caliber player that could play on a championship team. The only position vulnerable is Koval until Kylie gets back.

But damn, I'm used to my big Westbeld cup of 'relax, everything is going to be ok'. Been getting that for almost a decade now.

Hopefully a full recovery and a big boost to the team for

the bulk of the season. Her leadership, experience and skill set are needed to obtain the ultimate goal of winning the National Championship.

Maddy's Been a Trooper, So This Decision Was Probably...

...weighed heavily by all concerned. Taking some time off early in the hope of coming back strong(er) makes sense for both her and the team.

As noted, Thank the Dome (as well as Coach Ivey) for bringing in Liza Karlen and Liatu King. Having first team Big East and ACC players to handle the absence will help, to say the least.

The one reality is that Kate Koval will not be brought along slowly (if that ever was the plan). She, Karlen and King will probably take the majority of the time up front, but against certain teams I could see taller/big guards playing the four (Sonia Citron, Cass Prosper).

Good luck Maddy. Hope to see you soon.

As always, well said. *

I hadn't seen her in any practice video lately. Good for her for recognizing the issue and taking the steps necessary for recovery and long term health. I hope we see her back on the court sooner rather than later!
