She's got a lot to offer in the front court, although at heart she's a very talented post player.
And, if she was to come to ND, we'd have a post who -- knock on wood -- will be a dominant center by her junior year.
I'm not sure Niele would ever go twin towers on us, but would Big O agree with be lower-case O for a year or so?
As for Woliczko, I'm curious, as well. Gosh knows we all are aware of the family's like//love of ND. However, as noted, it's been all quiet on the western front. Coach Ivey has been known for operating under cover (see Prosper, Cassandre and even...to a degree...Koval, Kate). However, is Leah Macy viewed as a similar kind of player by the Wiliczko family? Or could Woliczko also play a physical 3? Or do they care?
Let's see who shows up...'25 or '26. Ready, set....stay tuned.
But I think Woliczko and Macy are different players that would play different roles. I think she could play a physical 3 quite comfortably. Hopefully, we get to find out, right?
Every game I've ever watched her play she just makes her teammates better. Special talent.
what I believe Woliczko could be thinking. Many young players these days want/expect to come into a situation and get going at what they do best. I've got absolutely no evidence for this save for watching them play.
Do I think there are differences between the two players? Yup. Do I think there are similarities? Yes.
Macy, to me, has more of a traditional "4" feel, but in the same way Maddy Westbeld does. Outside-in, as Maddy describes it.
Woliczko can do a number of things all over the court. Defensively and off-ball she strikes me as being a smoother version of Emily Engstler; seemingly intuitive, but the brain is working just as often as the legs and arms. The athletic ability, aggressiveness are familiar. Offensively, throw in a bit of Haley Jones (also at Archbishop Mitty and early Stanford) with the court awareness and working with teammates. But Woliczko shoots better (good thing)!
As noted, I think both can play together...now, let's see if Ms. W wants to join Ms. Macy in South Bend. Or at least come visit.
However, I could see them thinking they do a lot of the same things and could crimp each other's style (see Baba's post)....perhaps.
(On the other hand, they could dig each other's style and want to play together....)
They're both very good players and I'm awfully glad the Irish have one of them. Would love the other, too.
just not sure what it is. Which one do you think "could play a physical 3 quite comfortably"? Woliczko or Macy? I agree with you no matter which one you mean.
I definitely agree that "Every game I've ever watched her play she just makes her teammates better. Special talent." First I thought you meant Woliczko, but with the last statement, I'm not sure. I think it applies to Macy more than Woliczko. Woliczko is a great talent, and so obviously makes her team better, but Macy makes her teammates better. She's a coach's dream, knows how to play the game. Both are relentless.
don't care who you already have committed you do everything you can to get her.
