This was a real long shot for NI, but now we can cross this one off

Anyone know if she is actively looking and/or engaging

...so I'd guess that the ND WBB Coaching Staff will remain intact for the 2018-19 year.

And after that, Niele's son will be a senior in high school, so it would probably take wild horses to drag her away during the 2019-2020 season.
Great for the overall efficacy of the staff and great for keeping together the Irish recruiting team for that valued 2020 class!

Will her son or can he go to ND for free?

No idea what kind of athlete he is.

No to the latter.

There are benefits, but the standard one is not full tuition.

When was Nielle actually hired?

That has an effect on the benefit.

From Her ND Bio:

Niele rejoined the Fighting Irish women's basketball program as a member of head coach Muffet McGraw's staff in May 2007.

Based on that it looks like Jaden can go for free. *

That's a pretty good $$$$ incentive to stay

Assuming Jaden is a good student (his mom and dad both went to ND, so hopefully some of that rubbed off). He'd be a good walk-on for ND basketball.

And of course, we don't even know if he wants to go to ND

But there is a pretty good $$$$ incentive to go.

The pay for a head coaching job is significantly greater and an assistant/associate.
There is a very good chance, if she wants to someday be Notre Dame's head coach, she will be required to have previous head coaching experience. We hear over and over again, how head coaching experience, especially that first year, is an unexpected eye-opener.

Not saying she should not aspire to being a Head Coach

Only saying any extra $$$ helps her wait for the right job at the right time.
I've also advocated paying our assistants top dollar so that they are able to stay - if so inclined - or wait for the best opportunity.

We have evolved into the best Women's Bball program in the country (really only one other contender to the throne right now), so do what it takes to keep it that way (can look at the football program to see what happens when you don't)
