Diop, Pitt Grad Transfer, Chooses To Attend Louisville

Yacine Diop, a 5-10 RS JR wing from Dakar, Senegal, who is a grad transfer from Pittsburgh, chose to attend Louisville.

According to the tweet below by Alan Saunders, a Pittsburgh-based AP Sports Writer, Diop -- Pitt's leading scorer and rebounder -- will be immediately eligible with one season left to play.

So, apparently the ACC's usually strenuous intra-conference transfer rules (lose a season of eligibility after sitting out a year) don't apply to the grad transfer situation.

The Coach Who Must Not Be Named is obviously looking for some kind of alternative to the loss of Myisha Hines-Allen. But Diop is more of a wing than the 6-2" Hines-Allen.

By this signing, I'm guessing that any possible movement between the Cardinal and Anriel Howard, the undersized rebounding forward from Texas A&M, never went that far.

Diop worked very hard for a woefully over-matched Pitt team but I don't see her making up for Hines-Allen in the way that Howeard could've (at least from the rebounding perspective).
