26 points (12 of 16 shooting), 15 rebounds for Natalie in a losing effort against the Las Vegas Aces. (Link to box score, access to various videos, including Achonwa highlight package).

Kmac went for 18 for the Aces, while Lindsay played just under 20 minutes off the bench and had 6 assists. A'ja Wilson had a monster game for Las Vegas, with 35 points and 11 rebounds.

combined might have helped.

but they played the whole game

so their +/- without LA was -2 for KMac and +2 for Aja (give or take a point).

a lot of the time, +/- doesn't mean much. For LA, in this game, it was.

3 players played the whole game: KM, Aja & Young. The PG (Plum) and C (Park) subbed out for LA & a combo of Bone & Hamby.

The lineup of LA, KMac, Aja, Young & Hamby was the most effective.

Feel Like They're Trying To Force Feed Plum...

..into the point guard role, when it's clear she's more of a scorer.
With MoJeff's injury, it would be better to rotate Plum into both the shooting guard and a little bit of the PG with Kmac and LA. Lindsay should probably look for her shot a bit more to keep defenses honest.

Aces won in NY tonight. They had a very difficult

situation, in that they had a back-to-back game (both on the road) and the game last night in Indiana went to OT. But they destroyed the Liberty. They were up by 24 with 2 minutes left in the game, and NY's subs closed the game on a 9-0 to make the final score 78-63. McBride (16 points on 7/12) and Dearica Hamby (17 points on 7/11) led the way. Lindsay Allen had 7 assists vs. 2 TO whereas the starting PG Plum had 1 assist and 3 TO. Despite not starting, Allen logged more minutes than Plum (25 vs 18). Plum is a talented player, but she is not a WNBA PG like Allen could be. Both players are in their second year in the WNBA.

There's Some Young Talent on the Aces....

..some of which Ruth Riley helped procure, but -- in all fairness -- Laimbeer is an accomplished WNBA coach and can help pull it together.

Seems like he is doing the "I'll start the better-known player, then put in the steady eddie and see which is playing better. Then, I'll go with them. For that game."

I thought the Liberty made a big mistake cutting LA because so many of their guards have the same skill set. Hartley and Boyd, the de facto points, are more scorers. Think LA is in a better place with Aces, whether temporarily or longer. Who knows how long MoJeff will be out?
