Matt Insell had alternate lose-win seasons at Ole Miss for 5 seasons and finished with an overall record of 70–87, including an 18–62 record in SEC play. That latter in-league mark is probably what got him sent packing.

He had a pretty good recruiting class for 2017.

Day'Neisha Banks - 5-10- Forward - Jacksonville, Fla. (Ribault HS)
Chyna Nixon - 5-9 - Guard - Philadelphia, Pa. (Neumann Goretti)
Milicia "Mimi" Reid - 5-8 - Guard - Bronx, NY (The Patrick School)
Promise Taylor - 6-5- Forward- Issaquah, Wash. (Sammamish HS)

BlueStar Media - 11th Nationally
Prospects Nation - 15th Nationally
ESPN - 20th Nationally

Only Mimi Reid is still left from that class and the only reason may be that she missed her frosh season due to an ACL. She's from NYC and played on the Exodus AAU team and was in NJ for her last year of HS with the Patrick School. She's got a handle.

Promise Taylor, a 6'5" forward, did well in her frosh season and will only get better. She transferred after Insell was fired to....ouch...Mississippi State. She'll steip into the lineup after McCowan graduates so Coach Vic has a succession plan.

There's enough of a roster there..whether they can get a decent out of league record and survive this first year remains to be seen while the new coach gets some decent recruits remains to be seen. She did a good job at Jacksonville, but that's a different league.

In the meantime, Insell is back working for his dad at Middle Tennessee State.

Lastly, Ole Miss was the flagship of the Mississippi College system while Miss State was the "ag" school. Times have changed but Ole Miss is still the "ol" school. Lot of alum money, beautiful campus and facilities. Cool town. Been there a number of times.
