Not a recruiting expert. How does Aubrey Griffin to UConn

affect any of those players we're in on?

Doesn't change things at all, imo

They are still recruiting Haley Jones hard. Geno's m.o. lately is to stockpile these ultra-athletic players and figure out the positions later.

Examples: G. Williams, Collier, C. Williams, Walker. I don't think Griffin committing will affect Haley Jones's decision-making nor do I think UConn accepting the commitment is a sign they are pessimistic about getting Jones.

The other player both schools are recruiting is Boston. I don't see how this would affect her one way or the other.

Perhaps some similarities to Jones....

In that they're both 6'1" and seem to work outside in from the perimeter.

Actually, the player she most reminds me of is Megan Walker, who will be a junior when Griffin walks on campus in Fall 2019. So you'd have two players of somewhat similar skill sets.

I think Jones can play the 2 or 3 easily, but UConn perhaps over-recruited at those positions in Walker's year (Walker, Coombs, Gordon).

Yet, Geno has evidently decided Griffin has great upside (she lost a year to injury) and that he'd like to have her on the court. Plus, he'd have something in hand if Jones decides to stay on the Left Coast or go to ND (I just can't see her in South Carolina). Griffin is a good get and has very good upside.

Anyways, here are Olson thumbnails on these three players...see some similarities?

Megan Walker, 6'1"
"Athletic perimeter performer attacks rim, finishes plays, brings results; manufactures, mid-range game producer, delivers under pressure; the elite prospect in the class of 2017." (Olson)

Aubrey Griffin, 6'1"
"Athletic perimeter prospect with versatility; quick leaper, active on glass; versatile defender; mid-range game creator, exploits mismatches and delivers; rebounds, handles and attacks coast-to-coast; a stock-riser in the class of 2019." (Olson)

Jones, 6'1"
Poised, consistent perimeter performer manufactures shots, breaks down the defense and scores at all three levels; unselfish leader makes plays on both ends of the floor; continues as an elite prospect in the class of 2019. (Olson)

Don't forget Ms. Williamson another player of

similar size and skills who was the consensus #1 recruit last year. In fact, they seem to want three players of this type on the floor with a PG and a low post.

She is obviously a good player. Congrats to UConn.

For a positive spin, you could say they are not so sure about Jones, Horston, and Boston, the trifecta they are hoping to win.
