Was Haley Jones on campus for Stanford weekend?
by OBI-WAIN (2018-09-30 10:31:42)

If so, is there any info as to how the visit went? And, if so, was that why Dr. Dye chose this game to recreate the AO shot, to celebrate the WBB National Championship, and to invite MM to conduct the fight song?

All quiet on the Twitter scene for both Jones and Amihere. *

Not to be alarmist, but just curious…

We have pictures of Muffet leading the band, team members in the stands, the band re-enacting Arike’s shot, Muffet being tossed by cheerleaders, but nary a picture of Haley Jones or Laeticia Amihere.

The only pictures will come from the recruits

and neither player posts much on social media. Amihere hasn't posted pictures of her previous visits.

Maybe Jones will post some photos today. Maybe she won't.

The team, coaches, and players can't post pictures of recruits as that would be a violation of NCAA Bylaw 13.10.5

"Prospective Student-Athlete’s Visit. A member institution shall not publicize (or arrange for publicity of) a prospective student-athlete’s visit to the institution’s campus. Further, a prospective student-athlete may not participate in team activities that would make the public or media aware of the prospective student athlete’s visit to the institution (e.g., running out of the tunnel with team, celebratory walks to or around the stadium/arena, on-field pregame celebrations). Violations of this bylaw do not affect a prospective student-athlete’s eligibility and are considered institutional violations per Constitution 2.8.1."

I thought I saw some photos of football

recruits on the walk to the stadium posted on FB or some other platform recently. Is football exempt?

Those pictures came from fan sites, not the University *

I thought I knew the rules but I now I'm a bit confused.

So there appears to be a rule specifically about visits.

I guess I also thought @ndwbb was somehow exempt. See link below, which was posted on @ndwbb. However, it is not related to a visit. Was the fab 11 picture last year on 10/28 not put on @ndwbb?

The "click, don't type" exception
by Orangutan  (2018-10-01 12:05:06)     cannot delete  |  Edit  |  Return to Board  |  Ignore Poster   |   Highlight Poster  |   Reply to Post

Slight correction to what I posted above - The rule re publicizing visits is now Bylaw 13.10.2.4. But the wording remains the same.

The so-called "click, don't type" rule is what allows the official @ndwbb account and the coaches to "like" or "retweet" a recruit's post, such as the one from Brunelle that you linked.

From the Bylaws:

"13.10.2.8 Exception—Actions That Indicate Approval of Content on Social Media Platforms. An athletics department staff member may take actions (e.g., “like,” “favorite,” republish, etc.) on social media platforms that indicate approval of content on social media platforms that was generated by users of the platforms other than institutional staff members or representatives of an institution’s athletics interests. "

Things are clearing up. Thanks for citing and posting. *

Brunelle posted it then @ndwbb reposted it *

Exactly, so that is legal. If Haley Jones
by BabaGhanouj  (2018-10-01 11:31:09)     cannot delete  |  Edit  |  Return to Board  |  Ignore Poster   |   Highlight Poster  |   Reply to Post

posts a picture then ndwbb can repost, but Muffet could not retweet? Or are visits different? Per the rule Orangutan quoted, they are. Does anyone remember how we were made aware of the Recruitapaloozza picture?

Ah, I guess we are talking official vs. non-official visits also. No "on-field pregame celebrations" must be for only official visits. What a tangle!

My understanding...
by SB Jimbo  (2018-10-01 12:00:03)     cannot delete  |  Edit  |  Return to Board  |  Ignore Poster   |   Highlight Poster  |   Reply to Post

...is that coaches can now retweet or like any tweet by recruits at any time. They just can't initiate or reply to them.

If this isn't the case then (primarily) Muffet and Niele are in violation of the rules. They've both liked many recruits' tweets.

Ah, you're right. My thinking was completely wrong. *

Pretty Sure Recruitapalooza/Nielefest Came from An Attendee
by dillon77  (2018-10-01 11:57:41)     cannot delete  |  Edit  |  Return to Board  |  Ignore Poster   |   Highlight Poster  |   Reply to Post

first, then may have been re-positioned on Niele's or others' accounts under the "click, don't type" clause. Seem to recall a mess of attendees pushing pictures of that, including Alli Campbell, Sam and Kylee Watson being pretty fast out of the box.

BTW, I think all of those attendees were unofficial.

While I agree with Orangutan that neither Amihere or Jones post a lot, Jones has thanked coaches for home visits and her coach, Sue Phillips, is religious at thanking folks for attending open houses and some high school games (of course that helps her promote Archbishop Mitty, too).

So, checking those sites might the the (initial) way to go....

Thank you for this clear presentation! *

Surprised No Pics Of Them On Campus Have Been Posted,

Usually, recruits post pics of themselves on recruiting trips

Maybe it indicates that things are pretty darn serious. *

Well, That...And the Fact that These Visits Are Allowed...

...to be up to/but no more than 48 hours long and they generally start on Friday, so they've probably just wrapped up/are wrapping up. My gut is that those that want to will start posting once they're in their respective modes of transportation home.

My gut says things will start appearing on Ms. Jones/Ms. Amihere's pages a bit later today/tomorrow morning.

According to her HS Coach's Tweet, She Was On Her Way...

Can't say for certain if this routine was chosen because she and Laeticia Amihere (who was supposed to be here, too) were visiting, but it sure was a smart move to show how ND campus/nation is behind MM's team; from the routine and introduction of Arike and MM to the crowd, to MM leading the band.

Not to mention, the Irish football team did their part be beating Stanford, Jones's hometown team and a major suitor for her skills.

Hopefully, we'll see some pics once she and/or Ms. Amihere on their respective trips home to California and Ontario.

The team did scrimmage

I want to ask you a question please about Scottsdale Commumity College’s Culinary School.

I hope they both came, and both decided before the game

to commit to the university whose team won the football game!

Of course, that may be a tad improbable .....

Very improbable with regard to Jones.

At least publicly. According to a recent interview her announcement is potentially being coordinated with ESPN. In November. After all of her visits are completed.
