This is Sunday's relaxing question I had planned for today. It will be presented despite the fact that Dillon read my mind. However, don’t let Dillon fool you with his comment yesterday.

Of the starters, i.e. not counting Lili Thompson’s short season, who led the team in 3-point FG%?

A hint (in addition to the one above): it was a different person than during the 2016-17 season.

most important 3 of her basketball career when Shep found her open to cut the lead to 2. BTW, thats how this team was, find the open player. Shep could have forced a shot, but she knew that Marina was due to hit a 3.

Marina's 3 point shooting improved throughout the season

Marina started out cold -- she only hit 20 of 71 three-point attempts in the thirteen non-conference games (28.2% - 1.5 makes per game).

Her three point shooting improved to 42.2% in ACC regular season play (46 for 109 - 2.4 per game). She was better on the road in conference play (45.8%) than at home (35.9%).

Marina made 45.5% of her three point attempts in the three ACC Tournament games -- 3.3 makes per game.

In the six NCAA games, Marina went 19 for 38 from deep -- 50% -- 3.2 per game. She was unconscious in the first four NCAA games -- 17 for 27(63%) -- an average of 4.25 made threes per contest. She did tail off in the two Final Four games -- just 1 for 7 vs UConn and 1 for 4 vs MSU. However, that one make in the final was key to the late comeback.

Great Point. Marina

was really on fire with 3s in the early to mid NCAAs, and was especially unconscious, if I remember correctly, in the aTm game in the Sweet Sixteen. All good, after a pretty slow start to the season on 3s. Can’t wait to see Marina with more space and time to launch 3s this year, given the other 4 players and the strength we will have inside.

Curious: Who was #2 in 3 point percentage last year (among the regulars)? Arike? Was Cable the leader the prior year?

Yes! You are right with both your answered questions,

assuming that "prior year" meant two years ago when Maddie played. She hit at an astounding 47.1%, which was 5th in the nation. Last year, Arike led the team in 3-pt percentage with 45.4%. This past championship year, as you guessed, Arike was 2nd to Marina with 38.2%.
