Would love to see the Orange pull this one off!

Oregon 75, Syracuse 73

Oregon blitzed them in the first quarter, then the 'Cuse steadily came back.

Boley scored 13 but shot 3-12 from 3-pt range and Sebally was held to 3 points. Ionescu and Corzola looked solid.

Mangakahia had solid game (15 points/8 assists, but 5 turnovers). Things that caught my eye were the number of contributors off the bench (Engstler, Lewis, one of the French forwards), as opposed to Oregon only having one player. 'Cuse played tough on enemy court early in the season...Q knows what he's after and gets the players to do it. They'll be tough down the road.

Boley didnt handle their pressure on defense very well

Who got a T in the 4Q? I missed that...

Engstler got T'd for swearing at the refs after her 4th foul

She wasn't a starter but was thrown in to take fouls under the basket to make sure Oregon had no easy layups. She was the only one who had 5 fouls since the added T fouled her out.
I thought the reffing was fair as Cuse was all over the Ducks down low. They out rebounded the Ducks by a lot. Still they did let Boley and Sabally take their 3's which worked to keep them in the game since they combined to miss 15 in a row after making their 1st 3 threes.

She Also Had 9 Points and 6 Rebounds in 12 Minutes...

..I think the 6 rebounds tied for team high.
As for the many fouls, she's an aggressive player (remember, Abby fouled out of her exhibition). As for the "T," well she is from New York City!
(Would rather have to tone down the spunk then try to find it...).

Oregon got the win, but if I'm Q, I'm encouraged.

Yes it's a team being built in Coach Hillsman's image. He

is intense and was a treat to watch on the sidelines. Could be a fun game against ND since it will be a home game for them. The way they played yesterday they would have beaten the Ducks on an neutral court as the big crowd (6,879) helped the Ducks pull it out in the end. Considering the start time was up against a Duck/Utah game on TV I was pleased with the crowd.

Yes, from the little I've seen of her, she is a force. *

Ducks in the second half. She didn't shoot much in the first half but set up a lot of players who missed their shots, especially Boley and Sabally. If they had hit them she would have had another triple double and the game would have been easy. She had only 8 points at HT and picked it up 2nd half to end up scoring 26. Her big shots were when they were down by 6 (67-61) when she hit two straight 3's. She ended up 5-8 for three's. Her and Cazorla hit their FTs to finish off the game when they got the lead back on Boley's 3 pt shot.

As for Boley's game, she started hot hitting 3 of her first 4 shots including her 1st 2 threes. She then missed all but 1 of her next 14 shots including 9 threes. Graves kept her in as she was pretty good on defense. Then when she needed her to, she hit the three to put the Ducks up 70-67. Still I could see they missed Lexi Bando's reliable 3 pt shooting this game and are counting on that Boley would play that role. We will see if she settles back to her 40%+ 3pt shooting down the road.

Syracuse zoned low to keep the ball from going in to Hebard. They pressed well and the coach was very aggressive with their D. They started hitting their 3's in the second half when they took the lead. I don't remember them hitting any in the 1st half which is why the Ducks stayed in control of the game until Cuse made it's run to get the lead late in the second half. ND plays them Feb. 25 so it will be interesting how good they will be then.

Oregon had a good crowd which helped the comeback. The team still has some work to get back in their flow which took them a while last year as well. As to another PAC12 team, I plan on going to Oregon State's game next Weds but they're not playing a ranked team so won't be tested. I hope they get to play ND again in Vancouver.
