IIRC, Purdue also used to have a dark arena surrounding the lighted floor. I mentioned to my wife last night that basically VT's arena is a depressing place to watch a game, at least when watching on TV.

Last year during the UVA -VT men’s game I was watching the game with a group of guys. We said the same thing about the lighting.

I think it's the gym; since the game ended an hour ago *
