and of course it should be based on merit, but if Sam is really a Top Five player in her class, if she plays that way when practice starts I'd strongly consider starting her from the get-go. Let her take her lumps prior to the conference schedule. This season will not be one for incrementalism...meaning we should go with the best talent and start developing it.
