Hey all:
Was scanning internet after returning from a week away. Seems like a number of prospects and/or major AAU teams went to Virginia and the Boo Williams tournament. Wonder which ND coach went there?

All of these posts are from SkinsHoops86 who was putting up snippets all weekend on the Boo. You'll see three familiar names here:

DEJA KELLY

Gold championship will also include Drive Nation, which beat DFW 75-68. Deja Kelly had 19 PTS (5-11 FG, 8-10 FT); Zayla Tinner with 17 (6-12 FG, 3-4 3PT), & Mailyn Wilkerson with 14 (5-8 FG, 4-5 3PT).

CAITLIN CLARK

Caitlin Clark had 22 points (8-18 FG) and 7 assists in the loss for All Iowa. Really impressed with her ability to create her own shot, but also make good passes as well. Good mix of scoring and keeping her teammates involved.

Team Takeover leads All Iowa Attack 33-32 at the half. Mir McLean with 10 points for Takeover. Caitlin Clark with 13 for AIA, including 3 tough off the dribble threes. 1 or 2 may have been step backs.

2020 PG Caitlin Clark is getting really good at drawing fouls. Already has 6 FTA in the 1st quarter of platinum bracket game vs. CO Premier. Went 18-19 from the FT line on Friday in 1 game alone.

KYLEE WATSON

Philly Belles beat Essence 63-54. Nice game from Kylee Watson, 14 points. Belles have a good glue player in Claire Neff, very active defensively. Janiah Barker with 10 points for Essence.

I'm sure our staff saw a lot of other talent, but I primarily focused on the immediate task at hand (2020). Of course, it will be interesting to see if some attention now falls on some Official Visits for both/either HS prospects or transfers. Not much time left in spring semester!

And here's one review -- with a tip of the hat to defense -- for a 2022 prospect from Lady Ballers Insider (LBI):

- 2022 Mila Reynolds 6’2” PF Michigan Crossover 16U
Guarded on perimeter and post, double-digit boards, blocked several shots and drew a pivotal charge all with a pulled groin vs. Team Takeover. Gritty performance.

Awesome! Gracias *

Another summary of the U17 teams from Boo Williams by R. Simone of Lady Ballers Insider, with several ND commits and/or prospects mentioned. I've cut and pasted a few excerpts. Writer comes from a Midwest perspective, so takes on non-midwest teams is interesting. Whole article is linked below.

Exodus NYC 17U EYBL
The starting 5 for Exodus are all just below 6’0” and taller, with long arms and a ton of athleticism. All of their players can handle the ball while going coast to coast in transition, or when directing traffic from the top of the key. Caroline Ducharme (2021, 6’2”), Destiny Adams (2021, 6’3”) and Natalija Marshall (2020, 6’5”) were very impressive with the versatility and abilities to play multiple positions and any time and be very effective. The backcourt defense of this Exodus squad was aggressive and in your face. Look for big things from this team during the July season.

Dillon note: I see Destiny Adams is now playing with Exodus. If ND coaches (Niele and Carol?) were seeing Nat, they would get a look at Destiny Adams, who I like. A lot.

All Iowa Attack 17U Nike EYBL
I am starting to wonder if being a sharpshooter is a requirement to play on the All Iowa Attack team. Year after year they come to the EYBL sessions and light the nets on fire with their ability to execute on offense, especially from behind the three-point line. This year was no different. Due to their precise long-range shooting, a two or three point lead quickly jumped to a twelve or fifteen point before teams knew what hit them, in almost every game they played. With four players averaging 30% or better from behind the arc, including Maya McDermott (2020, 5’4”), Aubrey Jones (2020, 5’10”) and Caitlin Clark (2020, 6’0”), it is safe to say this that squad is keeping the All Iowa tradition alive.

North Tartan 17U EYBL
North Tartan as a team shot from 48% from three-point range. In one game, it literally became a case of pick your poison. When they weren’t shooting the lights out of the gym, they were running in transition before their opponents had a chance to react. Lauren Jenson (2020, 5’10”) led her team and the session in scoring, averaging 21 points/game. Her teammate Matyson Wilke (2021, 5’10”) was also very successful from behind the arc, shooting 58% for the weekend.

Dillon notes: As Orangutan has noted, we all know Caitlin Clark is "the truth" and she showed it again here. The report on North Tartan is interesting because it shows Matyson Wilke (2021) drilling it on a national stage. Geesh, shooting nearly 6 for 10 over a weekend of games from three-point land? Holy Mabrey+!

Players that stood out from Michigan, Illinois, Ohio
and Indiana
Ariana Wiggins 2021 5’8” PG Nike Lady Gym Rats Silver 17U EYBL
There really wasn’t anything that Wiggins didn’t do well. She has excellent court vision, with the IQ to match. She has a quick first step and an arsenal of moves that she uses to get to the rim whenever she wants. And she can shoot…from anywhere…consistently. As a unit, the Gym Rats looked really good, with tons of room to continue to get better. They are a team you don’t want to miss when the July session begins.

...Other Players that caught my attention more than once

Anya Poole 2020 6’2” Post Carolina Flames 17U EYBL
