ND To Play in Cancun Challenge Over Thanksgiving Weekend
by dillon77 (2019-05-09 17:51:03)

Notre Dame Women's Basketball just dropped first news about the 2019-20 schedule and they're continuing their tour of North America. Last season they played in Vancouver; this upcoming season will see them spend the Turkey Day weekend in Mexico and the Cancun.

They'll play two challenging mid-major teams -- Florida Gulf Coast (Nov. 28), South Dakota State (Nov. 29), both of whom made the NCAA Tournament -- as well as South Florida (Nov. 30), which usually acquits itself well in the AAC conference. The Bulls recorded a 19-16 record during an injury plagued year in which their sixth ranked all-time leading scorer Kitija Laksa did not play due to an ACL injury. They did play in the WNIT.

So, as they did last year, MM and her staff find challenging competition at these tournaments (remember how Gonzaga, Drake and Oregon State were excellent matches last year?).

Next year will be a grind for this group. Need to get some confidence against lesser teams. Learn to play together early and sneak into the tourney will be a good goal.

Not quite as strong as last year's Vancouver tourney, but probably equally tough relative to the abilities of this year's ND team.

Yep, perfect opportunity for these youngsters to start
