- On Thursday, Natalie Achonwa had 11 points (on 4 of 7 shooting from the field, 3 of 4 from the line) and 10 rebounds to help the Indiana Fever beat the Dallas Wings 76-72.

Nat was true to form for her season average, where she's at 11.1 ppg on a very efficient 60.4% field goal percentage, the 3rd best in the league.

Arike didn't play in this game, with an ankle injury cited. Skylar is out on mateirnity leave following the birth of her son in April.

- On Friday, the Las Vegas Aces hammered the New York Liberty 100-65 and both the Irish players on the active roster had good games. Kayla McBride scored 18 points, which is pretty good considering she only took 6 shots from the field (and made 3). However, she went 11-11 fromt the foul line; she can still draw the foul and then can cash in.

Jackie Young is getting more used to the point role in the the pros, recording 8 assists, while scoring 8 points and grabbing 4 rebounds in a team-32 minutes of play.

Kmac, btw, is 6th in league scoring at 17.3 ppg and she's doing this very efficeintly: she's 7th in FG percentage and 2nd in Free Throw pct. (96%).

- Also on Friday, the Los Angeles Sparks beat the Phoenix Mercury 85-68. Marina Mabrey came off the Sparks bench to score 5 points (2-3 shooting, 13 =/-) in 13 minutes of action. This was one point more than starting scoring guard Sidney Wiese, who only played 2 minutes more. (Riquna Williams got most of the playing time off the bench, scoring 11. Still that position registered 20 points. Fine.)

Brianna Turner barely got off the bench for the Mercury, scoring 2 points in 93 seconds of play. Game-wise, Bri is in a tough spot, playing behind Brittany Griner on a Mercury team that only has two proven scorers (the fabulously named DaWonna Bonner being the other) with Diana Taurasi rebhabbing from surgery.
On the other hand, she gets to practice agaisnt Griner and has some pretty prime fellow rookie teammates in Stanford's Alanna Smith and Missouri's Sophie Cunningham. Smith, the #1 pick of the Mercury, isn't getting that much PT either.

BTW, Griner and Bonner rack up the most minutes on any player in the league. In my humble opinion, that could come back to haunt them later in the season -- Griner put in a full schedule overseas and played in the World Cup, racking up minutes all over the globe.

- Another player who is making up for injuries on her team is Jewell Loyd on the Seattle Storm (With Breanna Stewart and Sue Bird out).

On Friday, Jewell scored 14 points, including the go-ahead jumper with 8.6 seconds left, and the defending champion Seattle Storm overcame a 13-point fourth-quarter deficit to beat the Washington Mystics 74-71 on Friday night in a rematch of the 2018 WNBA Finals.

Jewell is 3rd in minutes playes in the league (behind Griner and Bonner) and is 8th in scoring at 16.0 ppg.

I've put a link to the wnba.com site. If you click to it, there's a horizontal row pretty close to the top of the page that has recent scores. Clik on that and it will bring you to the boxcore and video options. Take a look see.
