Maryland WBB’s receives slap on wrist for recruiting issues

They did lose I scholarship for the violation, but I suspect it could have been much worse.

Per Raoul:

NCAA announces self-imposed penalties for Maryland MBB and WBB for rules violations. The WBB penalties—for using "impermissible recruiting aids with prospects"—include a reduction in official visits and one fewer scholarship through 2020-21.

I wouldn't call it just a slap on the wrist.

I think the penalties assigned are pretty standard and fair given the actual violations committed (personalized covers for recruiting brochures and puzzles made on cardboard instead of card stock -- NCAA recruiting rules are weird).

If it weren't for the men's penalties, Maryland probably could have kept the women's penalties at Level III instead of Level II.
