Thx. ND hasn't got a top Mater Dei athlete since John Huarte

although Joe Schmidt was a pretty good walk-on from there. Their QBs have all been going to SC lately: Matt Leinart, Matt Barkley, and Max Wittek. As for women's bball at least she didn't go to UConn like Katie Lou and Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis but follows the older Samuelson sisters who also went to Stanford.

Eric Patton, Matt Beeuswart, Mike McNair *

and played QB for them. He entered ND the same class as Paul Snow, an enticing prospect of 3 more years of Huarte to Snow.

Paul Snow was in the '65 Frosh class

a year ahead of the younger Huarte ('66 Frosh)....Snow had been a 3 yr starter at QB at St Anthony's in Long Beach...but Ara moved him to SE...yet another HS QB that Ara recruited & moved to new position at ND

Paul Snow was named MVP of the very last ND Old Timers Spring game (1967)-but was always injured come the fall....Ara changed the Spring game to an Intersquad matchup and renamed it the Blue Gold game after '67...no more Old Timers.

#4 Women's recruit from Mater Dei just chose Stanford. *

page...but maybe in the future. Neither did the older two Samuelson girls who went to Stanford so it is clearly an incomplete list. Maybe Rex can get added when ND wins the NCAA championship next year and he gets the MVP. Huarte did get a Heisman so I guess that;s how he got on the list.
