And I'm just a fan. I can only imagine what it would be like for the parent of a player whose child is most likely being pursued by schools that have a number of transfers out of (and into) schools.

On the other hand, the transfer portal allows players to be a bit more like students and be able to go somewhere else. Sometimes a person just isn't happy. But given how much research and getting to know you has gone into the dances, you just have to wonder sometimes.
