Volume 2 of the SLAM Summer Classic is set for Noon and 2PM ET August 18th at the legendary Dyckman Park in New York City. It’ll be streaming live on Twitch, Twitter, FB and YouTube."

The guys start at 2 p.m. and most guesses for the girls' start time center around noon.

Looking at the list below, there are a number of (former) 2020 and current 2021 prospects taking part in this, including Sonia Citron, Oliva Miles, Amari DeBerry and Destiny Adams. Can't see any of our coaches flying into "the city" to take this in, but playing on these courts where Pearl Washington, Ed Pinckney, Chris Mullin and others have gone at it is pretty cool. I'll try the streaming services.

Not Necessary. The Hoopla and Allure of the Setting...

..is cool, but does not really translate into what they'll see indoors. Might be cool to see how they perform "on the court" and see what moxie and/or attitude they bring, but the coaches have probably gotten a good idea of that, too.
If there was a 2020 prospect the Irish were closing on present, it might be worth the trip, but for the 2021's, it would be more of an emotional check (particularly given that the coaches can't actually talk to them in August.)

I think Olivia Miles and Destiny Adams could have some serious fun here.

If There's Some "In-Office Only" Planning Going On...

..for after this week, that's great.

Prospects can come on campus this month, but you'd think that folks would want to wait until the home football weekends start up.

After Labor Day (or thereabouts), prospects can visit campus and coaches can visit prospects at their places (home/schools). That's where a lot of rubber can hit the road.

If there is a lot of activity going on, perhaps that tells me that all the remaining coaches are pitching in for the remaining 2020 prospects. Or, along with the job posting, that the top recruiting slot may be shifting over to a current coach (say, Beth?).

Well, look forward to the activity!

I expect Beth to become recruiting coordinator and the lead

scout for the marquee games. She was successful in everything she did before returning to ND. We'll see if Carol Owens does home visits for post players and Beth does home visits for guard/wing prospects. Muffet always does September visits.
