Another 30 point game for Arike-2nd player in WNBA history

to have 4 straight 30 point games. She also passed Diana Taurasi and Tamika Catchings to become #6 all time rookie scoring points at 605, just 5 points behind #5 Candace Parker (610) and 16 points behind the two tied for #3 (Cynthia Cooper and Breanna Stewart, both at 621). Arike needs just 17 points Sunday to become all time #3 in Rookie scoring.

By the way I was mistaken that Arike played 32 games...she missed 1 game. After the game with the Mystic, AO is still #3 in scoring per game, now at 18.9/game, just below #2 EDD, who is at 19.4/game.

Efficiency has ramped up also

One of the complaints outsiders (mainly the Boneyard) have had was that Arike was a "high volume" shooter ("gunner" to us oldies). Recently her shooting percentage has been close to 50%, including 3 point shot attempts. It's also interesting that she's been getting 8-10 free throws a game now, whereas anything short of criminal assault had been a no-call earlier in the years. In effect she's earned her "bones" and is getting "star treatment". She's also lost a number of potential assists due to poor shooting of teammates.

AO seems to have a history of losing out (I'd say unfairly) on awards (see Asia Durr) and Collier/McCowan of late have also played well; so nothing is guaranteed.
