with 25 points today and 630 total. This was her 11th straight 20+ point effort, a rookie record. She ended up tying Maya Moore as the only two WNBA players to have 4 consecutive 30+ games. Maya and Arike are also the only two WNBA players to have 5 or more 30 points games in a season with Arike getting 5 her rookie year while Maya had 12 in 2014, her MVP season. Arike also ended up #3 in scoring at 19.1 ppg behind Greiner & Della Donne and #2 in total points, only behind Greiner's 642.

I think Arike's historical season truly justifies the ROY but the Lynx folks (MinnesotaLynx.com) are pushing Collier hard in their article on their loss to the Sparks today. Here's the quote "Collier was the Lynx’s best player on Sunday, finishing with 16 points, 11 rebounds, three assists, two steals and two blocks. She shot 63.6 percent from the field. Sunday’s game was a nice final entry into her campaign for WNBA Rookie of the Year. Though her competition Arike Ogunbowale finished with 25 points in the Wings’ loss to the Storm, Ogunbowale shot just 36.8 percent from the floor. If you need a distillation of the arguments for the two rookies, Sunday was a pretty clear one."

They focused on shooting % and missed that Arike had 5 assists, 2 steals, 3 rebounds, and only 1 turnover. They also forgot the stat that Collier had 3 turnovers. I watched the game today and Arike did her best as none of her teammates could score, especially in the first half. The announcers (pro Dallas) felt Arike was not being selfish and was just trying to keep her team in the game with her shots in the 1st half when she scored more than half their points. They don't see how she won't be ROY, but acknowledge Collier had a great rookie year. Should be an interesting vote.

So Arike won't make the playoffs, but all of her other 4 teammates drafted will be in, although Shephard on the Lynx is hurt and is getting DNPs in the box score. Bri is starting for Phoenix who will play at Chicago. Shephard's Lynx has to play Jewell Loyd's defending champions Seattle Storm in Washington due to their loss today. The winners of those 2 games will get Jackie Young & KMac's Vegas Aces while the other get's Marina's LA Sparks.

Attached is an article on the final day of games, playoff plans as well as mention of Arike's rookie total point achievement.
