I shake my head when she says things like not being able to get the 2018-19 teams to "buy in to playing defense". I doubt you'll ever hear Geno say he couldn't get his team to buy in to anything, at Uconn you are all in, or you sit, or leave. Ditto Pat Summit during her heyday. A minor pet peeve perhaps and you really can't argue with the results during that period. FWIW
- “She (Anaya Peoples) and Marta can provide some pressure up top.” Seems like Coach McGraw is referring to the "top" of a zone here. Wonder if the Irish will mix up the man-to-man or go zone. Not a deep roster (again).
That said, I could see Sniezek and Peoples providing some good havoc at the top of a 2-3, with Gilbert, Vaughn and Brunelle. Abby will do anywhere she plays!
- If Peoples is the de facto back-up at point, she'll play a lot of minutes if she is also the starting wing. Prohaska will probably double at wing and off guard.
- Those on the board thinking Cosgrove had dropped some weight were right. Will be interesting to see if she becomes more comfortable rolling to the paint, rather than to the three-point line.
Thanks again for posting. Good read. Getting closer to the season!
to lower their hopes for "Big Mac" nights with 88 points scored at home. I'll be happy if this group can score 75 per game!
...in her career. Overall team leader, pain-in-the-#ss defender (good thing!), but not one to light it up. Amazing to think that Sam B. and Anaya P. could be getting off the planes/bus into starting roles.
