Madison Hayes Commits to Miss. State; Interesting By-Product

Madison Hayes, a 5'10" guard from Tennessee, has committed to Mississippi State, according to multiple sources. Hayes and ND had a cup of coffee last year but both moved on, with ND then developing interest in another guard named Hayes from Tennessee, Alasia (no relation to Madison to the best of my knowledge).

What makes this kind of interesting is that Hayes was also being seriously recruited by the new coaching regime at Tennessee. According to multiple posters on the Boneyard who have rooting interest in and knowledge of SEC schools, Tennessee has swung and missed on virtually all of their 2020 prospects.

It was pointed out that Maddy Westbeld was the last highly rated prospect of theirs who is still uncommitted. Westbeld, who is in Louisville as I type, is due to hit Tennessee's campus in Knoxville next week. Expect a very heavy push from UT's coaches to avoid a very low shooting average.

Good news is with the Westbeld's affiliation with Notre Dame (which by all accounts was mutually beyond respectful), she'll stay the course and come to ND Oct. 11-13th to finish her tour of all five finalists. And let ND do it's thing.
