She was on the last year of her contract, and Duke had been sliding down from its once-exalted position. Most people thought she wouldn't get the extension unless a miracle occurred. The timing of the move is extremely strange (unless there is something medical). As I pondered, one reason could be that she asked for the extension and was given a NO or We'll See and resigned in spite.
