Quick, painful revisit of last year, cued by Clemson’s year.

Clemson, before the 2019-20 season brought in 9 new players, 5 freshmen and 4 transfers! It still didn’t help. Clemson finished the season 8-23 (3-15).

However, they did down the Fighting Irish 71-55 at Purcell Pavilion with Kendall Spray dropping eight 3-pointers. After 58 ACC wins at home in a row, this marked ND's first home defeat in conference play since joining the ACC in 2013.

Despite all the new players for Clemson, their top six still started the season with about 100 more playing minutes than ND. However, none of those players were rated in the top 100 by any rating service.

As others have pointed out, our problems were not just lack of experience, but lack of ND experience and lack of previous year experience. Our inexperience went deeper than the numbers I chose showed.

Still, I think most will agree that, even with all the crucial inexperience, our season should not have been that much of a disaster. It's probably a good thing that Niele wasn't here, but she does have a couple of coaches that can tell her all about it.
