the final for the 2nd straight year. This is the first time that back to back years that we haven't had an ACC team (including ND) in the Final. From 1982 to 2015, the only years when an ACC team/ND was not in the final was 2002 (Portland beating Santa Clara) and 2005 (Portland beating UCLA).

PAC12 will now have its fifth champion in the last 11 years which matches ACC/ND championships over the same period. Prior to that the ACC/ND had 20 out of the first 25 championships (mostly North Carolina). ND still will be second in total championships at 3 as either Stanford or UCLA will get their second.
