I don't know the answer statistically, but the PL is not what it used to be from an eyeball check perspective and far too many top players spread across European leagues now.

Chelsea 04-05 still stands out in my mind as superior.

Seasons of 96-99 had the most competition among top 3-4 teams IMO. The best part about these seasons was the intra-week drama of the FA Cup before it became watered down.

07-08 was pretty amazing too.

That this run should be that diminished. They went 5-0 I’m advancing to the knockout of the UCL.

Do they have the top team in Europe? No, but how many times has an EPL team won the UCL in the last 20 years (ie who we are comparing them to)?

I agree there is more parity in Europe, but not so much that it would diminish this season that much.
