If you assume Boateng departs, I think Pavard is a regular starter between RB and CB, as they want to transition Kimmich to DM as a replacement for Javi.

And that changes even more if Kovac switches to three at the back, because then I think Kimmich stays right as RWB/RM. Hernandez also plays left, so you have lots of possible and adaptable variations back there. Alaba/Hernandez left, Kimmich/Pavard right and Sule/Hernandez/Hummels in the middle.

Sule and Hummels would be the only 2 CBs that could only play CB at that point, and Hummels is not going to be a regular starter next year - though Hernandez probably won't start right away as he is supposed to rehab right up to the start of the season.

Bottom line is that defensively, they will be MUCH stronger next season for sure.
