In reply to: EPL refs and VAR had an awful day today  posted by HTownND

Ref made a decision early to rule no penalty along touch line...which led to another no-call against Vertonghan later which was much more of a foul, but still borderline....which led to another no call penalty later in the game, which was less of a foul but more of a foul than original no-call that precipiated the no-calls.

Also, the shoulder/bicep goal from Dele Alli was the best VAR no-overrule decision made all day in the match. The others decisions seemed like a punt. And STILL the ref called goal and pointed to center-spot while the screens showed NO GOAL. How much more screwed up can you get. It took another 60secs to realize what was the decision.

It's really hard to be a EPL ref. That's a job I don't want. I didn't see the other games.

Are you saying you don't think that Dele handled it with his arm, and that it was the right call?

He clearly extended his left arm out to hit the ball with his upper arm.

Based on the new rules, I would have thought it would have fallen under the unnaturally bigger stipulation, as his arm wasn't in tight.
