He asked to be named Technical Director as well, and was turned down. That's a rare move in Germany, as managers usually aren't given control over transfers.

And it sounds like he wants to stay on the board. Yes, it's pretty weird.

I didn't dive into the story at the time, but I thought it very odd for someone with his experience. Perhaps it's unrelated.
