Final Day in the 'ship is a mere 2 hours away
by miamioh_irishfan (2020-07-22 12:19:13)

So much can happen still.

Leeds has it wrapped up, but the race for 2nd is very up for grabs between Brentford, Fulham and West Brom.

2) West Brom (82 pts) v QPR
3) Brentford (81 pts v Barnsley (a Barnsley win could see them escape the drop)
4) Fulham (80 pts) v Wigan (Face a 12 point deduction for being placed under administration and need a win to avoid the drop)

The battle for 6th includes 3 teams:
5) Nottingham Forest (70 pts) v Stoke City
6) Cardiff City (70 pts) v Hull City (Hull is relegated unless something pretty crazy happens
7) Swansea City (67 pts) v Reading (Swansea needs to win, Nottingham or Cardiff to lose, and get a little help on GD to climb up to 6th)

Relegation:
Everyone from Huddersfield in 18th down the table is vulnerable, plus throw in Wigan who needs to win, as I mentioned above.

Get that ESPN+ sub up to date it could be fun.

Unbelievable that both Luton and Barnsley saved their bacon

and also unbelievable that Forest choked so badly down the stretch and again at home last night. A colossal collapse.

Forest had a lead over Swansea of 5 goals in goal differential going into Drop Day. They managed to lose to hapless Stoke 4-1 with the final score against them being an own goal (almost as adept as the Prowler Fowler) in the 6th minute of added time. Swansea meanwhile won by the same score over Reading with its last goal scored in the 1st minute of added time. Within about 5 minutes Forest went from a +1 in GD lead and being in the playoffs to -1 and weeping in their ale.

West Ham looks safe staying up, United likely needs to win Sunday against Lester.

United now only needs a draw. *
