Disappointing loss by ND women in SB last night to WF 1-0.

I watched the 2nd half of the match live and ND seemed to be the better team but couldn't finish. Wake Forest had an effective goalie, making her 1st start, who made some good saves, but ND's shooting was not very precise. They had dangerous opportunities that they didn't finish. There really was only one dangerous opportunity by Wake in the 2nd half and they finished it late in the match to win.

This was a tough loss as it means ND may have a difficult time finishing the season with a winning record since thay have #1 UNC who is 5-0 and L'ville & Clemson who are tied with them with 3 wins and 9 points. There are 10 teams that are still competitive to qualify for 8 ACC tourney spots with Wake's win putting them now at 7 points, 9th place, still in the mix, just ahead of Randy Waldrum's Pitt team who has an easier schedule in it's 4 remaining games. Hopefully Nate gets his team back on track so we don't repeat the disappointment of his 1st season when ND didn't make the ACC tourney for the 1st time ever and ND didn't qualify for the NCAA tourney after 25 straight years.

The men are 2-2 with 4 games left. All 4 remaining matches will be tough including rematches with L'ville & Pitt who beat them earlier so hopefully they can rally to get a winning record. After 7 matches they need to earn enough points to be ahead of at least 2 teams from the North to qualify for the ACC tourney which they have never missed since moving to the ACC.
