It seems a number of the potential US sites currently use field turf, which I thought would disqualify them. Wasn't sod over turf a disaster in the past?

Plan is 60 games in the US and 10 each in Canada and Mexico

Mercedes Stadium has already had its turf replaced *twice* since it opened in 2017, so it's on FT 3.0.

"AMBSE officials have said the turf likely will be replaced every two or three years, in part for aesthetic reasons because of wear from the field being repainted and rebranded for so many events."

Something similar was used in giant stadium then. Both were fine for soccer.

The sod simply laid on top of turf, not fine.
