What's wrong with FSU? 2 straight losses to Wake/Va Tech.

They are the back to back defending National Champs. FSU is in 9th place in the ACC with half the ACC season done. Only 8 teams make the ACC tourney which if they don't improve they won't be in.

ACC women's soccer is ridiculously competitive. FSU at 9th place in the ACC with 7pts os tied with Pitt and BC, all 2-2-1 in the ACC. ND is just ahead of them in 7th place at 8 pts with only 4 ACC games (2-0-2) tied with SMU who has played 6 (2-2-2) Still one of their ties was with FSU who ND doesn't play, Only UNC (5-0) & Duke (4-0) are unblemished so far in ACC competition. 8 of the top 21 RPI teams in the nation are from the ACC and that includes 3 teams (FSU, Pitt, & UVA) who are in the bottom half of the ACC standings. UVA at 1-4 in the ACC (8-4 overall) is actually 15th in the nation in RPI but in the ACC they are only ahead of 3 teams in a 17 team conference with half the season done. I think at least 10 ACC teams will probably make the NCAA tournament, all 8 who make the ACC tourney and probably at least 2 who won't play any extra games.

ND's next 6 games are all competitive with 4 of the teams (Va Techm Duke, Cal & Stanford) ahead of us in the standings. The other two are Pitt (17th in RPI which is better than ND's 21st in RPI) amd our next game at L'ville which is always tough no matter their record. It will be interesting to see how it all ends up.

Not back to back. UCLA won in 2022. *

to Va Tech is pretty shocking. It seems surprising.

For whatever it's worth

VT has sneakily rose to 9-3-2 and 6-1 at home this year. Also, Wake has a legitimately credible argument to be a one-seed in the NCAA tournament (seriously. wins over Mississippi State, Virginia, Stanford and Florida State.)

So while Florida State losing two in a row is always inherently surprising, I think this is a little more normal of a two-loss slump than the traditional pedigree of their opponents might suggest. That said... they still have Virginia, Pitt, and UNC on the docket before the regular season ends. So, if this was an indicator that this FSU isn't as good as usual we'll probably find out quickly.

Astute observation, but tells you something that 2 of the 3

teams you list as FSU's indicative challenges are in the bottom half of the conference standing (Va & Pitt). With teams playing each other hard to imagine all 3 (FSU, Pitt, & UVA) will make it into the 8 team conference tourney. As foVa Tech I belive that is the first loss FSU has ever had to them so they have had a sneaky rise.
