I was only able to attend the first half on Sunday, so I don't know the final. But ND controlled the first half. Goal scorers were Annabelle and Lily. Annabelle's first shot was blasted off the post, she didn't miss the rebound shot.
All the freshman saw significant minutes. Still no sign of Izzy. Perhaps she's away on US team practices.
Izzy, Tessa and Grace did not play. Grace may still be recovering from her late season injury last year,
Like the first half, lots of substitutions throughout the half. Hollomon played goal for the final 40 minutes.
Heavy rain shower hit with about 26 minutes to go, but only lasted about 5 minutes.
Abby anchored the back line flanked by Claire Logan, Gabby Poretto, and Gracie Milan (who flipped from left to right). Gabby played left side exclusively, as did Claire on the right.
Bristol Kersh impressed on left wing.
Especially with Slainte Joe’s revelation that Tessa Knapp is now out with an ACL
That's a good thing, I would guess.
If I would have guessed one freshman would impress, it would have been Bristol Kersh. So, she may be the replacement for Leah Klenke? No, not a replacement, but fill her position.
So, Tess is out for the year?
Nice that Abby stayed at center back and that Gabbi is already in the lineup on defense. Also nice to have Milan in there.
Not that it matters, but who scored?
Did Kate Kimnerley play? or Charlee Siria or Reese Canada?
ND is ultra tight on disclosing anything, but was this recent? Earlier? I really like Knapp.
That said, "losing" a year for her now, may be a gain down the road in that it extends her eligibility.
All the best to her recovery.
with the 5 for 5 rule unless I misunderstand. I don’t think seasons lost due to injury get a 6th year
Granted, everything in the NCAA rulebook these days is subject to change so...
The Ivies go four years of academic and athletic eligibility and you're out of the Ivy (much to the delight of major lacrosse teams in the B1G and ACC).
So this is now the gist of the current NCAA rule, but for five years. Well, glad she gets an extra year that way.
They moved the start time up to 5:30. I arrived about 20 minutes in, and ND had already scored.
Lots of substitutions - I think all the freshmen have played. Neither Izzy nor Grace played in the last 25 minutes of the half.
My guess is that's why they moved the start time up.
In the past, Exhibition games often get no coverage, i.e. no score, or any remarks on the play or the outcome. That would be a shame.
