Drunken sailors.
See my post below. Chelsea covers Villa’s ass by paying an overinflated fee for Morgan Rodgers, Villa returns the favor by overpaying for Jackson going the other way. Financial shenanigans.
How does this work you ask? Villa’s books benefit through the entirety of £117m fee for Morgan Rogers as pure, immediate profit given his low original cost, thus clean from the PSR point of view, while Chelsea locks in a massive instant capital gain selling Nicolas Jackson for £65m. Because both clubs amortise the incoming transfer fees over multi-year contracts on paper, the immediate yearly costs are just small fractions of the total prices. The result is a massive net paper profit on both clubs' books for the current financial cycle with zero net cash outlay.
Scratch, scratch.
Bernie Madoff is impressed by this financial engineering. Ofc Robert Sanchez ain’t great.
So £30M wasn’t the most Ipswich could get for him in the open market, it was the amount Ipswich was compelled to accept from any team Delap wanted to go to. He probably would have fetched over £50M on the open market last year.
Why anyone would possibly think he was worth £50M remains an unexplained mystery.
Clubs are so flushed with TV money a player increases his value after having done fuck all. Out of all absurd fees paid this window, this absolutely has to be the most absurd.
Somebody has got to check these “I’ll scratch your back, you scratch mine” deals- I guarantee you Chelsea will end up buying a Forest player in the next couple of windows for some huge fee for sure.
P.S. City selling Savinho for 80m. Wanna know why? To cover for Marmoush at a lower fee so City don't have to pay money to Frankfurt.
Scratch, scratch.
There was no sell on clause with Frankfurt for Marmoush. Just the regular social media conspiracies.
This has just been a World Cup year with a pressurized transfer window and higher transfer fees across the board. Definitely a great year to be a seller.
