How does this work you ask? Villa’s books benefit through the entirety of £117m fee for Morgan Rogers as pure, immediate profit given his low original cost, thus clean from the PSR point of view, while Chelsea locks in a massive instant capital gain selling Nicolas Jackson for £65m. Because both clubs amortise the incoming transfer fees over multi-year contracts on paper, the immediate yearly costs are just small fractions of the total prices. The result is a massive net paper profit on both clubs' books for the current financial cycle with zero net cash outlay.
