Some numbers on big 5 Leagues 26 Transfer
by SCOANGERS (2026-09-01 09:46:08)

I had some inteesting numbers on the transfer mercato economics. By the close of the 2026 summer mercato, Ligue 1 posted an extraordinary net positive transfer balance of €559 million. In total, French clubs generated €1.13 billion in player sales while capping reinvestment at €570 million, yielding an average net surplus of €31.6 million per club.

I already mentionned PSG has been very good at selling with a positive balance of roughly €150 million (Barcola’s €145 million transfer to Liverpool Ramos's €74 million move to Milan, Lee to Atletico).

While this €559 million surplus exceeds 2025’s €362 million net gain and contrasts with the deficit-heavy years of 2023 (-€126.7M) and 2024 (-€46.5M), it remains a short-term band-aid. The underlying fundamentals remain alarming: DNCG audits revealed a cumulative operating deficit prior to player trading and shareholder injections of €1.4 billion as of mid-2025, driven by soaring wage-to-turnover ratios.

My own club SCOANGERS is a miracle of smart ownership.

On the international stage, Ligue 1 is serving as the primary talent pipeline Over the same period EPL has a (-€1.162B net deficit ), Serie A (-€193M), La Liga (-€149M), and Buli (-€33M).
