The recommendation, which still requires ratification from the NCAA before it could be implemented, would put the height of collegiate racing in contrast with international track & field, which contests the 1500 meters. The sport’s international governing body, the IAAF, began allowing mile times as qualifications for the world championships this summer, but only accepts 1500 meter times to qualify for the Olympic Games.
