Jeff Burda '75 wins NoCA Golf Champ's in 6 different decades

Today, Jeff Burda won the Northern California "Super Senior" Amateur Golf Championship at Spyglass, Pebble Beach, CA. The "Super Senior" category is for players over 65 years of age. He is the first golfer to win the Northern California Amateur in 6 different decades (he has won a total of 10 NCGAs in his career, which ties the record).

Jeff won his first NCGA championship in 1974, after his Junior year at Notre Dame. He played as the #1 player all of his four years at Notre Dame and was a multi-year captain of the team.

He has played in multiple Amateur National and Open Championships - US Amateur - US Senior Amateur - US Senior Open - US Open.

Jeff was a great all-round athlete coming out of Northern California and was named to some All-Northern California teams in football, basketball and baseball. I do not believe that California had "All-State" teams, and designated their players Northern California and Southern California teams (makes sense with population counts: CA 40 million; TX 29 million; FL 21 million; NY 19 million).

He felt that golf was the most challenging sport that he has played.

Amazing accomplishment. *
