when ND lost a challenge when Army was down by 1 (22-23). After winning the challemge to tie, they got the next two points to complete a run of 4 straight for the match. Prior to that their only other lead was 2-1 and ND's biggest lead was 4.
2nd set ND started slow and was down 4-0 but then ran of 8 straight. Army got back to tie and they stayed close helped by the next challenge by Army that went their way to tie 13-13. ND finally won a key challenge overturning a called tip to get up 17-14. Army fought bach to tie 22-22, but ND ran off the last three to nwin 25-22.
ND clearly seems the better and more talented team, but is making lots errors to keep Army in as Army is working hard and more disciplined. In the 3rd set vas I write ND has its biggest lead in the match 16-10 so hopefully will finish it off.
Eastern time/9 am West coast.
we beat Valpo in Madison then lost to Wisconsin.
is the tallest player on the team at 6'4" so will be missed as she was top 3 in Blocks and top 4 in Kills. She was one of three ND players on the ACC All Freshman team. If they win today, hopefully she can be back for tomorrow as Oregon have 6 players 6'3" or taller and ND would be left with only Sammi Lockwood at 6'3" and she has hardly played.
moved into the frontcourt rotation. She had played three sets during the regular season.
hard to replace Lindsey.
This may have been the first match she played all year. Anyone know why she was out all year? Miller was quarantined because of Covid.
And Pittsburgh in the Fall
I think the addition of freshmen Miller and Hamilton and the play of senior Thompson have taken her minutes. I hadn't heard of injury or Covid reducing her playing time, but this could have been a reason, too. I seem to remember her missing from the bench 1 or 2 matches.
Edit: added her season stats
to get blocks. I was worried about our sets and passing early on. The last two sets ND got their act together. The Ducks are going to be much bigger frontline tomorrow. ND has to start off much better to have a chance and play sharp throughout. It may be an advantage to have played today, but we will see. That seemed like a Creighton practice gym so if they play the same place tomorrow that could help ND. I;mm looking forward to it.
