Earlier this morning, Tim Welsh, former longtime head coach of the swimming teams at Notre Dame, succumbed to cancer.

Tim was a wonderful mentor and guided the teams through the bus tragedy in 1992. He meant much to many, inspiring his student-athletes to pursue and achieve excellence with self discipline and love for one another. He lived his mantra, and its very essence came to the fore in 1992.

God bless the Welsh family. Rest in peace, Coach.
