at the NCAA championships. Yared earned the fastest semifinal time in NCAA outdoor championship history with a 3:37.36 time. Should do well in the finals.

Voetz just missed qualifying for the 800m as he was third in the 3rd heat which was run too slow as Charlie Hunter (who won the heat), the 800m indoor champ from Oregon, tried to get a teammate in. Sam then pushed the race but he was edged out by the Auburn runner.

Meanwhile, Sam Voelz probably gets to the 800m final

if he just leans at the end, but he didn't, and the guy next to him leaned his way into second place and into the finals.

Was it Molly Huddle who missed out on a medal at some prestigious meet in NYC because she started celebrating before she had actually crossed the line? Somehow, we have to get the runners to remember to run the race all the way through and lean. There was an 800m runner at our kids' HS who missed a title because the other guy leaned at the end.

Totally agree and he's so tall he could have dived and won.

I was hoping he'd pull it off. Oh well.

Correction of my post: it was the 10K world championships

where Molly Huddle goofed up, so it was even more prestigious than I recalled.

Yared has a chance to beat the 40 year old meet record

held by Sydney Maree of Villanova which he ran in 1981. Attached is the official results.

I saw that as well.

Weather for todays race looks a bit dicey. Rain and in the low 60's high 50's.

Not sure if that is good conducive to fast times.

Hocker and Nuguse both came darn close, just .05 off. *
