international athletes taking over getting many wins and higher scoring places in the various T&F events in Eugene.. Men's top 10 had 5 SEC schools (1,2,3,4,& 6) and 3 B1G schools (5,9,& 10). The ACC had L'ville #7 & the Big12 had K State #8. For the women there were 4 SEC schools (1,2.3,& 10) and 5 B1G schools (4,5,7,8, & 9). The Big 12 had Iowa State getting #6.

ND's and the ACC results were very weak for both men & women. For the men, although L'ville got into the top 10 with 32 pts, only 5 more ACC teams even scored: #19 UVA (12 pts), #30 Wake (8 pts), #37 Va Tech (6 pts). #42 FSU (5 pts), & #57 Miami (2 pts). Ten ACC men's teams including ND sent athletes who didn't place for pts and usually competitive Stanford didn't even send a men's competitor.

ACC women's best was 15th in the country as Clemson (20 pts) led 9 more ACC teams that scored including ND: #24 Stanford (11 pts), # 29 NC State & ND (8 pts), #45 Louisville & UNC (5 pts), #51 BC (4 pts), #57 UVA & VaTech (3 pts). and #68 Cal (1 pt). Four other ACC teams sent athletes who didn't place. Novak for ND got the 8 pts placing 2nd behind BYU's Taylor Lovell. They beat out 3rd place Bama Kenyon as they were the only American women to keep the many internationals from the top of the podium in the distant events. From the 800M through 10K, every distance race was won by an African and many top places were filled by international runners. Nice to see Sophie do so well her last race for ND her senior year.

Ja’Kobe Tharp, 12.75 in Semi’s, wow … that was unexpected

The Lowlight was Doris getting DQ’d in the 5000m for a negligible stepping inside the line infraction

Here's some video from Sophie Novak's 2nd place finish.

She led a good part of the race.

Thanks for the share. I saw it live in Eugene Saturday. *

1. Pretty expensive. Paying for college sports is adding up I think I am over $6K this year for all the football, baseball, softball, basketball, gymnastics, and track events I've gone to in person all in state (Oregon or OSU). OSU and Oregon hosted four NCAA events this spring with Gymnastics, softball, baseball, and T&F. None of them were cheap. .

2. Families are traveling less to Hayward than before since there are now having many national youth events there and camps. This has really picked up since the remodel. Plus you add Olympic Trials, USTA National championships, and world championships along with annual Pre Meet, there tons of opportunities locally to go to Hayward. For example the only non-college event I am going to this year is Saturday July 4th for the Pre Classic. I worked to get 2 discount tix for $75 a piece which open market for seated go for at least $150

3. I would also add the increase in international players gets less family travel for the NCAA tourney and more of a professional feel then we used to have. . There4 are for more international athletes now than I have ever seen. Specifically the Africa college pipeline has really grown beyond with their sponsors supporting their development at different colleges in the US..

4. TV is always easier and every event is on TV.
