NCAA T&F championships dominated by SEC & B1G NIL money with

international athletes taking over getting many wins and higher scoring places in the various T&F events in Eugene.. Men's top 10 had 5 SEC schools (1,2,3,4,& 6) and 3 B1G schools (5,9,& 10). The ACC had L'ville #7 & the Big12 had K State #8. For the women there were 4 SEC schools (1,2.3,& 10) and 5 B1G schools (4,5,7,8, & 9). The Big 12 had Iowa State getting #6.

ND's and the ACC results were very weak for both men & women. For the men, although L'ville got into the top 10 with 32 pts, only 5 more ACC teams even scored: #19 UVA (12 pts), #30 Wake (8 pts), #37 Va Tech (6 pts). #42 FSU (5 pts), & #57 Miami (2 pts). Ten ACC men's teams including ND sent athletes who didn't place for pts and usually competitive Stanford didn't even send a men's competitor.

ACC women's best was 15th in the country as Clemson (20 pts) led 9 more ACC teams that scored including ND: #24 Stanford (11 pts), # 29 NC State & ND (8 pts), #45 Louisville & UNC (5 pts), #51 BC (4 pts), #57 UVA & VaTech (3 pts). and #68 Cal (1 pt). Four other ACC teams sent athletes who didn't place. Novak for ND got the 8 pts placing 2nd behind BYU's Taylor Lovell. They beat out 3rd place Bama Kenyon as they were the only American women to keep the many internationals from the top of the podium in the distant events. From the 800M through 10K, every distance race was won by an African and many top places were filled by international runners. Nice to see Sophie do so well her last race for ND her senior year.
