The team suffered a setback several years ago when the coach was fired. Last year that team finished in the middle of the conference with losses in several close matches, but since has lost the best player to the portal. The team seems to be improving, but probably will never be a national power.

If I had been a parent to a potential college athlete, I'd be looking at:

What will the overall college experience be like

What are my future teammates and coaches like (e.g. friendly and helpful or clique-ridden)

How good are the coaches in developing skills

What are my chances at playing time

Can I deal with distance from my family
