Randy Johnson. Before he got his control.

Along those lines, I considered Sandy Koufax, who struggled with control early in his career. But I’ll put my chips in with Johnson.

Edit to add after looking it up… RJ was not a terrible guess, but still wrong.

Could not have been more wrong bringing up Koufax, with 18 career HBPs. But he did lead the league in wild pitches one year; that must have been what was in my head.
