I assume that is the correct reading. The second one is tougher. But I think sprack's guess is likely the best one. The first name that popped in my head was Posada. But Bernie has mildly better power numbers, my guess is his splits were better, and as a catcher Posada may have been more likely to be subbed out during a game. My second thought was Teixeira, but he obviously doesn't have his number retired. My third thought was to confirm that Jackie Robinson never hit left-handed.
