2005 was the worst, on the heels of what could have been for the Cubs in 2003.
It used to be funny if the Sox had a bad season, but baseball is better if both Chicago teams are competitive. I hope the post-Reinsdorf era is better for them.

They are bad, but to go 1-21 down the stretch would be awful, and that's what is needed to "break" it. A 2-20 finish creates a tie.
Both of those are insanely unlikely.
