Board poll: Youth football and concussions... by Jimbo Irish

Curious what the general consensus is here about youth football and concussions.

1. Would you allow your son to play tackle football?

2. If 'yes' to #1, would you make him permanently quit after a single concussion?

3. If "yes to #1 and 'no' to #2, how many concussions would he have to have prior to you permanently pulling the plug? [assuming that he has been shut down for the prescribed amount of time post-concussion - i.e. 1 week, 2 weeks, etc.]

Seems to be a lot of differing and fluid science out there on the subject these days. Specifically as to whether having a concussion makes you more likely to have others in the future, as well as whether concussions actually have long term impact if allowed to heal properly before resuming physical activity.
